Hi, welcome to Animanga Wiki! Thanks for your edit to the Forum:Family Tree Template page.

Please leave a message on my talk page if I can help with anything! -- Sxerks (Talk) 20:32, 10 October 2009

Template queue Edit

Hey Simant, since you're a template person too, want to help with one of the things being worked on here?

Eventually I want to replace the sync que with a brand new one. Templates are being copied over from anime to here and at the same time cleaned up, and the documentation is being separated. Like how w:c:anime:Template:Wikipedia was changed to Template:Wikipedia. The templates are cleaned up a bit (no more ACGNetwork template, and {{WIKINAME}} instead of it for sitename use), and documentation is moved to a subpage. ~ NOTASTAFF Dantman(Local TalkAnimanga Talk)

For the most part all of them... anything good. ~ NOTASTAFF Dantman(Local TalkAnimanga Talk)

I don't know how many people even use irc. That's an interesting idea, I wonder if they could even do it. There are a lot of other things that would be helpful, but I don't know how much effort they would want to put into it.

On another note, the link to showed me, got me thinking about something I wanted to do at another wiki. Specifically generating tables based on SMW data, I have like 1000 pages(example)with data and manually create tables. Would it be possible, and could there be preset links to different table versions that users wouldn't have to select items?--Sxerks (talk) 23:15, March 27, 2013 (UTC)

Now that I think about it, the original list I created should be replaced by something similar. --Sxerks (talk) 17:16, March 28, 2013 (UTC)
That looks really good. I suppose the full table would be better but how many row can be displayed on a single page without problems. We'll have to add form check boxes for "has animanga footer on front page" "has nav menu link back to hub" and "is available for adoption", and add those to the table. The foreign language and dups aren't necessary as they should just be on the article page, ut a column for fan fiction locations should be. The locations don't need the full url or the w:c, it could just be the word "Link", I don't think there would be a need to sort that column.--Sxerks (talk) 20:51, March 28, 2013 (UTC)

re: Wiki Info Edit

Looking at the stats that it gives, the only real useful one is "articles". Being able to get that automatically would be nice. If it got it on the article pages would it be added to the SMW data? And how much of a load would it add to the giant table query? "Special:WikiStats" has the creation date but isn't in that query. --Sxerks (talk) 22:59, March 29, 2013 (UTC)

Yes, please do.--Sxerks (talk) 19:18, March 30, 2013 (UTC)

re:Series Template Edit

The series template/form does need an updated look, the current one was simplified after the Wikia skin change.

The series articles are for a certain series including all the manga and anime for it. There really shouldn't be any related series (like off-shoots) combined even if they point to the same wiki. Do you have an example of one you found?

--Sxerks (talk) 02:41, April 15, 2013 (UTC)
From your examples, a few point to the same wiki so they should be combined. Having separate pages is to much to maintain for the few number of people that edit here.
Can you show a example "Extension:Regex Fun" of this being used.--Sxerks (talk) 20:44, May 19, 2013 (UTC)

Sorry about that. I misunderstood Sxerks's message. Taka shichea 02:36, April 22, 2013 (UTC)

Vandalism Edit

May I ask you to ban the editors who vandalized the profile pages? Thank you. Taka shichea 09:12, April 24, 2013 (UTC)

Sorry, I thought you were an Admin. Taka shichea 09:27, April 24, 2013 (UTC)

Series template checkboxesEdit

Noticed you edited Template:Series last, had some Qs about it. There is a checkbox for Animanga footer which is pretty straightforward. I am just wondering though, is there a way to see whether or not this box is checked by viewing the page normally rather than trying to edit the template? I'm sure maybe there's some meta stuff going on behind the scenes but it's hard to know whether or not to check that without some kinda clear indicator.

For example, since we have 'series' and 'series with wikis' and all that, perhaps a sub-group of 'series with wikis' could be something like Category:Wikis with footers and Category:Wikis with TopNav links or something along those lines.

This is a reference to the checkbox below the Footer one. It says "Nav Menu Link back to Animanga Hub". I assume this means when I go to Special:AdminDashboard and click MediaWiki:Wiki-navigation and put a button there?

I'm planning on adding this feature so that I can click this checkbox for all anime wikis I have admin rights on, but before doing so I want to make sure I get it right. I was thinking, perhaps you could link to a guideline for footer/NavMenu people can open while editing templates so they know how?

For example on w:c:GuP I added a link called 'Animanga' to the upper right from TopNav. I'm not sure if it's properly formatted though. A page giving guidelines no how to present it and where to put it could be useful for others. +Yc 22:02, May 1, 2013 (UTC)

Ah okay thanks for clarifying that, I have trouble reading source code with temps sometimes so I wasn't sure if I was missing out on some kind of function. Do you think it would be hard to enable categorization?
Back in December Herald did this for a 'has wiki' type feature to compliment the 'no wiki' series subcat. It might be different to enable a 'has wiki' subcat for wikis that are alleged to link back with a footer or a topnav. It makes me wonder if there might even be some automated way of doing this too. Like for example, if a bot detects all wikia projects that embed the animangafooter and lists them, and then we can check through them all and see how that number compares to the ones that are checked and check those not yet checked. +Yc 22:59, May 1, 2013 (UTC)

re:Form Reverted Edit

The series2 form isn't ready, there is an unlabeled field at the top, other fields need example text to help users, the new fields at bottom aren't really clear as to what they are for, the default text wasn't loaded in the article, and the 2 tab style may cause users to ignore the article text altogether. And the reason I haven't responded just the time to do so.--Sxerks (talk) 20:49, May 19, 2013 (UTC)

re:Content attribution Edit

If it's in the plot section of a series article, and it's the only thing there, it can be either attributed like wikipeda or replaced by the equivalent wikipedia text. Would rather it not be blank if possible.--Sxerks (talk) 17:16, May 23, 2013 (UTC)

Their copyright policy is a little screwy, it doesn't mention the the encyclopedia section of the site, which is maintained by users but doesn't source who added what content. It can be removed, the intro portion is the important part anyway. And when you add the wikipedia reference template it goes below the references header, never at the top of the page.--Sxerks (talk) 20:21, May 23, 2013 (UTC)

Could you please tell me how the template pages can be TagSynced? I've used the Special:Export function for Fair use template, but I don't want to break any rules and don't know if that's allowed. And when imported it doesn't show the source, so I have to add it manualy. Hope you could understand what I'm trying to say! Looking forward your answer! Iliyana Petkova (talk) 10:39,5/28/2013
