From Animanga Wiki

[edit] Welcome!
Hi Dantman -- we are excited to have Animanga Wiki as part of the Wikia community! Thanks for joining us, and we'd like to give you some tips to help you get started on making your wiki great.
[edit] Your first four steps:
1. Create your User Page - this is a great place to introduce yourself (and practice wiki-editing!)
2. Add a logo - learn how to create a logo image, then click here to add it to the wiki.3. Create your first 10 articles - use the box on the right to create ten pages, starting each one off with a few sentences. For example if you are starting a wiki on a TV show, you might create an article for each main character.
4. Edit your Main Page - add internal links (like this) to the ten articles you just created, and any other improvements you can think of.
Once you've done these four things, you've created a great starting point -- your wiki looks friendly and ready for visitors. You can then invite some friends to help you create the next twenty pages, and expand the ones you've built.
Keep going! The more pages you create and link to each other, the sooner that others who are searching for "Animanga Wiki" will be able find your project in search engines, read your content and join you in editing.
If you have more questions, we've provided a full set of help pages, or you can email us through our contact form. Don't forget to check out other wikis on Wikia for ideas on layout, organizing your pages, and more. Have fun!
Best wishes, Catherine Munro
[edit] Kyo Kara Maoh
I moved that line to the top, cleared my browser, but when I tried an article to see if it worked it did the same thing. I got tired of seeing the message so I deleted all the tables, however, if you'd like to see what it looks like go to the Conrart Weller page on my wiki.--Kylecharmed 15:32, 7 July 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Templates?
Hi there. I'm Tou, and I noticed that you said that any wikis that wanted to sync up with yours should just come to you. I need just that. My wikia is: http://phunk.wikia.com/wiki/Phunk_Wiki If you need me, feel free to drop a line on my talk page of email me at: kwabowman@yahoo.com
Thanks. :] —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tou (talk • contribs) 14:24, July 17, 2009
That wiki is currently unfinished, but myself, and a few friends of mine roleplay Naruto, and we wanted to make a wikia similar to bleach.wiki and Narutopedia for our characters. We thought that it would be cool to have the templates featured on those wikias as well so that we could have that official look to it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tou (talk • contribs) 00:34, July 18, 2009
- Well, is there any way that you would like us to prove to you that we deserve the templates and such? --Tou 06:15, 19 July 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Scope
What is the full scope of the animanga wiki? Is it mainly just a directory for full wikis, with other related articles like authors, production companies, and definitions?
I'll get to cleaning up the pages I dumped from wikipedia (to just intro and plot), but what about small titles that don't currently, or may never have a wiki of their own like Kure-nai, how much should I remove?
On a side note, should I be adding "banners" to articles on w:c:anime w:c:manga for titles that have their own wiki and/or are now listed here to direct users here?--Sxerks 23:10, 19 July 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Rollback
Can I be added as a Rollback on this wiki? It would make reverting stuff like this easier.
On a side note the blue-link on blue-background of the Series Template doesn't stick out well, I think it also needs to be a little bigger in order to emphasize that there is/isn't a dedicated wiki.--Sxerks 02:08, 24 August 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Question
Can we create the characters we want to promote? Coldhandzz 08:48, September 19, 2009 (UTC)
[edit] RE: logos and series template and xml
I only noticed afterwards that there was the ability to do a server-call for the link, from looking at another of your templates. It does look better now without the blue-on-blue links.
So the genre at the top aren't categories? But at the bottom of the page there is a "Special:SearchByProperty". People clicking on a genre like "comedy" in the series box would more than likely be looking for other comedies and not a definition. If its going to stay like that, what other than a link to "Special:SearchByProperty" at the top of a genre page would be best?
Side question- Is there a way to use input forms to generate a large block of xml pages that can be imported into a wiki?
Example: Fill in "series name", "# of volumes", "# of chapters", "# of episodes" and get hundreds of pages with links to each other (previous-next chapter...) in one xml file.
Or is that something that is not possible here, but could be done off-site?
I'm mainly looking at helping new wikis easily generate pages, because it helps contributers jump in, even if there are just generic headers on every page like (summary and characters introduced...).--Sxerks 17:12, September 19, 2009 (UTC)
- When looking at Property:Genre I see some dupes with different spelling (Slice of life, Slice of Life, Slice-of-life and diff sci-fi). First, which spelling/capitalization should be used. Second, is there a page that lists Genre properties in an alphabetical list to more easily find the dups?
- As for the XML thing, I don't think I explained what I was talking about well enough, it didn't have anything to do with templates here.
- I was looking to see if it was possible to generate multiple pages with generic content headers and interlinks like this that can then be imported(Special:Import) into a brand new wiki to facilitate easy growth.
- I wanted to know if the "Edit with Form" like tools were powerful enough to do this or whether it would be easier with an off-site program.--Sxerks 01:30, September 20, 2009 (UTC)
- The format itself mandated or static, the pages default content would be inputed in a Form box.
Mine would be something like:
Title Title Japanese Date Volume Previous Chapter → CPN### Next Chapter → CNN### ==Synopsis== ==Referbacks== ==Trivia== ===Cultural References== ===Unanswered Questions=== ===Memorable Moments=== ==Quotes==
where start with other Form values: C### = Minami-ke Manga Chapter 001, CP### = Minami-ke Manga Chapter 000, CN###=Minami-ke Manga Chapter 002, CPN=000, CNN=002 It then generates 130 pages with all the correct values in one xml file and its imported.
For SoulEater, something like:
{{Infobox/SoulEater/Episode
|blank info ....
|episode = ###
|blank info ...
|}
Prologue
Summary
Differences from the manga
The only different is in that case you are using episode titles in the page name(which could be in another form box)
What I have seen in going though all the anime wikis here on Wikia is that most of them are blank, or they only have character pages. Most new people can only figure out enough of wiki code to do simple editing anyway. I would go and generate pages on semi-dead/dead wikis for series I've never seen/read to help growth, I did it manually on rosario+vampire. --Sxerks 02:20, September 20, 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Hello
Hello annoying user, just don't ever talk to me.This is all I am saying to you. Don't respond.Saimaroimaru 22:09, September 22, 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Series Template
Is the "type=Anime, Manga...." going to be displayed like the Genre and Tag are, or at least part of some searchable category?
And is that field going to be editable with the "Edit this Forum"?
If a series has a Fanon wiki, can it be added to a category like "Series with Fanon Wiki" that with display at the bottom along with the "Series" category?

[edit] why?
Why did you delete my page. This is ironic you baned me in the naruto wiki for the same stuff you just to me.Saimaroimaru 20:52, September 28, 2009 (UTC)
Anyway, I've come to apologize for my behavior in the naruto wiki. In the bleach wiki we are allowed to delete whatever we want on our talk and user pages(if we aren't alowed well that rule isn't enforced there) and I just overreacted.I'm sorry. Can you unban me?Saimaroimaru 21:18, September 28, 2009 (UTC)
Okay, whats your policy on the word shit because someoneuser on bleach wiki is calling my idea a full of shit. Its one thing to disagree and prove wrong its another to go around calling others thought shit. Bleach wiki seems to be losely governed while Naruto wiki has a nice set of enforced rules. Iam I unbaned? I have some words to say on this yoton debate and a sugesstion.Saimaroimaru 21:31, September 28, 2009 (UTC)
I see. Well watch out for Tinni on the bleach wiki, he'll call your idea full of shit if it doesn't conform to his ideas.Saimaroimaru 21:51, September 28, 2009 (UTC)
Thanks, great now i'm stuck in a flame war with this person on the bleach wiki.Saimaroimaru 22:14, September 28, 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Create article
Is there a way to modify MediaWiki:Newarticletext to include the Series article Form, since clicking on a red-link doesn't offer the Form now?--Sxerks 16:43, October 2, 2009 (UTC)
[edit] RE: TGlevel1.jpg
This file is my original artwork, created from scratch in pencil and then rendered up in photoshop. Every piece of artwork I've uploaded here was created by myself and released under a GFDL license. If I should have used a different license, please let me know, but you have my word as the image's creator that it is totally legit. Ciao, TGcomix 12:30, October 17, 2009 (UTC)
- Well, every image in that article is my original work; three of them were originally posted on the Spanking Art Wiki under GFDL (which I was told was the correct license to use). You can check their sources here:
The fourth image is more recent, but I have also released it under a GFDL license here.
And if your statement that you drew them yourself was true then they wouldn't even be authentic images.
No, they aren't Japanese screencaps, manga or CG, but then again, neither is the picture of Wiki-tan being used as the site's logo. They're illustrations which can be used by anyone on this site without risking fair use challenges or similar complications. TGcomix 13:04, October 17, 2009 (UTC)
- Well, I could replace them with small-sized screencaps from some of the shows mentioned in the article. If that would be an acceptable solution, please let me know what conditions would satisfy the fair use rationale, and I'll get onto it. Ciao, TGcomix 02:10, October 18, 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Tag Sync Request(s)
When you have the time, add w:c:codegeass to the template tag sync queue. Thanks. Simant 19:19, November 28, 2009 (UTC)
- Other admins agreed (Anubis zero, Plau), also got request for w:c:codegeassfanon to have them added as well from Anubis zero. Simant 20:51, November 30, 2009 (UTC)
- I think the tweaks for the codegeass wikia are complete, I just can't touch the fanon wikia since no admin privileges there. Simant 18:24, December 13, 2009 (UTC)
[edit] spotlight background
I just noticed that the "Code Geass" spotlight I put up has white text and transparency making it unreadable. Is there a simple way to add a "background color" option to the spotlight template.--Sxerks 21:18, December 2, 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Death Note Template
I am sorry to ask as I am sure u are busy, but on Animepedia I found this Death Note Template. Here's a link [4]. I couldn't find it on this Wikia so I figured I'd ask someone. Iwould like to put this on my talkpage located here [5]. This is not by any means a priority question, but if u could help me with it that would be great. Thank u for u'or time. Minato 22:36, December 7, 2009 (UTC)
Hey sorry, but I've got it now. U can delete this message if u want. Minato 22:56, December 7, 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Show/Hide
I noticed you did some Show/Hide work with the Yu-Gi-Oh! Wiki. Would it be possible that you could do this for my Wiki as well? --KamikazePyro 21:20, December 11, 2009 (UTC)
- I've done that but it still doesn't seem to be working. Thanks though. --KamikazePyro 22:06, December 13, 2009 (UTC)
- This is the link: http://mfgyugiohrpg2.wikia.com/wiki/MFG_Yu-Gi-Oh!_RPG_Wiki. --KamikazePyro 00:40, December 14, 2009 (UTC)
- Alright, I deleted that stuff. Is anything supposed to look different? --KamikazePyro 02:16, December 14, 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, it is now. Thank you very much. --KamikazePyro 02:43, December 14, 2009 (UTC)
