MAJOR (メジャー, Mejā) is a Japanese sports manga series by Takuya Mitsuda. It has been serialized in Shōnen Sunday and has been collected in 78 tankōbon volumes. In 1996, it received the Shogakukan Manga Award for shōnen. The manga series concluded in the 32nd issue of Shōnen Sunday for 2010, while the final volume was released in the middle of December 2010 together with a special original video animation.

The anime adaptation by NHK and Studio Hibari aired on six separate seasons. The first episode was broadcasted on November 13, 2004 up to the final episode on September 25, 2010. An original film continuing between the first and second seasons of the anime was premiered on December 13, 2008. Two OVAs focused on the World Series arc were released on December 16, 2011 and January 18, 2012.

A sequel entitled MAJOR 2nd (メジャー 2ns, Mejā Sekando) began serialization on March 11, 2015 on Shōnen Sunday. An anime adaptation by OLM aired on NHK-E from April 7 to September 22, 2018

Plot[]

Goro Honda is the son of Shigeharu Honda, a Japanese professional baseball player. He dreams of becoming a pro player like his father. However, when disaster strikes Shigeharu and consequentially Goro, they must find their paths to the pros. This is the dramatic baseball story of Goro's life as he aspires with unwavering faith to grasp the winning dream along with his friends and family.

MAJOR 2nd[]

Years after the original series, Goro's son, Daigo aims to become a pro baseball player like his father. Unfortunately for Daigo, the generation between father and son failed to reside in his blood, leaving Daigo to forfeit baseball and slumping himself into doing nothing. But when the fate of crossroads intersect when a new transfer student appears in Daigo's school, Daigo's baseball life begins to play once more for his own generation.
