Battle Vixens (一騎当千, Ikkitōsen; "A Mighty Knight who Matches a Thousand Knights"), also known as "Dragon Girls", is a manga series written and illustrated by Yuji Shiozaki.
The manga began serialization in Wani Books' seinen manga magazine Comic Gum, and the first tankōbon was released in October 2000, with a total of 24 volumes available as of its finish in September 25, 2015. The manga was licensed in North America and the United Kingdom by Tokyopop with adaptation from Keith Giffen under the title Battle Vixens, and in Australia and New Zealand by Madman Entertainment. Starting in November 30, 2015, a sequel manga New Battle Vixens (真・一騎当千, Shin Ikkitōsen) started serializing in Shōnen Gahōsha's seinen magazine Young King OURs and has compiled 4 tankōbon volumes as of 2022.
A 13-episode anime adaptation produced by J.C.Staff aired between July 30, 2003 to October 22, 2003, on AT-X and other channels. A second anime season, Dragon Destiny, produced by Arms aired on AT-X from February 26, 2007 to May 14, 2007, spanning 12 episodes. A third anime season,Great Guardians, also produced by Arms, aired on AT-X from June 11, 2008 to August 27, 2008, spanning 12 episodes and featuring an all-new plotline and characters. A fourth anime season, Xtreme Xecutor, produced by TNK and Arms aired on AT-X and other channels from March 26, 2010 to June 11, 2010, spanning 12 episodes and introducing new schools and characters. A 43 min anime OVA, Ikki Tōsen: Shūgaku Tōshi Keppu-roku was announced by Media Factory also by Arms that premiered in Japanese theaters on November 12, 2011. A 2-part OVA, Extravaganza Epoch, again by Arms was released on December 21, 2014 and December 28, 2014. A 3-part OVA, Western Wolves by Arms was released from January 3, 2019 to February 27, 2019.
An anime mini-series called New Battle Vixens (真・一騎当千, Shin Ikkitōsen) based on the sequel manga by Arms premiered on March 27, 2022 and is expected to run for 3 episodes to May 31, 2022.
Plot[]
Sealed in ancient jewels, are the spirits of the heroes who tried and failed to unite China in the Three Kingdoms era. These jewels have been scattered throughout Japan, and have the power to draw out the full potential of those who inherit them. However, those owners, known as Tōshi, are possessed with an insatiable appetite for battle. Hakufu Sonsaku is one such Tōshi. Living in the country, Hakufu's desire to beat something to a pulp goes unfulfilled until her mother tells her to go to Tokyo, where she starts training with other Tōshi and sets foot on the path to her destiny.
