Devil May Cry (デビル メイ クライ, Debiru Mei Kurai) is an hack and slash action-adventure video game developed and published by Capcom, released in 2001 for the PlayStation 2.

Devil May Cry 3 (デビル メイ クライ 3, Debiru Mei Kurai 3) is a manga series based on the best selling video game Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening was released in Japan and later an English translation was released in 2005.

Devil May Cry: The Animated Series (デビル メイ クライ, Debiru Mei Kurai) is an anime series by Madhouse based on the video game series by Capcom, in turn very loosely based on the Italian epic poem Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri. It is set sometime between Devil May Cry and Devil May Cry 4. It debuted on the WOWOW TV network in Japan on June 14, 2007 and ran 12 episodes.

Plot[]

The game is set in an alternate reality of the series. The game's story takes place in Limbo City, a modern-day city secretly controlled by all-powerful demons, manipulating humanity through the comforts of life, with the demons themselves residing in a parallel plane called 'Limbo'. Living on the fringes of the brainwashed society is Dante, a young man at odds with the demons who constantly hunt him, and the civilian authorities they control.
