Captain Tsubasa (キャプテン翼, Kyaputen Tsubasa) is a popular, long-running Japanese manga, anime, and video game series, originally created by Yōichi Takahashi in 1981.
The Captain Tsubasa manga series was originally serialized in Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump magazine between 1981 and 1988, spanning a total of 37 tankōbon volumes. This was followed by numerous sequels. Captain Tsubasa has sold over 82 million copies worldwide, making it one of the best-selling manga series. The original Captain Tsubasa manga series was adapted into a TV anime series, produced by Tsuchida Production, whose first season premiered in Japan on the TV Tokyo network between October 10, 1983 and March 27, 1986. Numerous movies and television series have followed. The latest anime series adaptation by David Production premiered on April 3, 2018, and is scheduled for two 26-episode seasons.
Plot[]
11-year-old Tsubasa Ohzora transfers to his new school where he quickly becomes the star of the school's soccer team. His Brazilian coach, Roberto Hongo, notices the potential of the young athlete and soon offers him a chance to come with him to Brazil. Young Tsubasa trains more and more and is with each passing game more confident in his abilities. Old enemies become his friends and the World Cup seems closer and closer for him.
