A Silent Voice (聲の形, Koe no Katachi; lit. "The Shape of Voice") is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Yoshitoki Oima. A Silent Voice was originally published as a one-shot in the February 2011 issue of Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine. A remake of the story began serialization in August 2013 in Weekly Shōnen Magazine. The series has been licensed by Crunchyroll, who began releasing it online in English on March 15, 2014 and will release the newest chapters as they are published in Japan beginning April 8, 2014.[1]

The manga's chapters currently have been collected in four tankōbon volumes, starting from November 15, 2013,[2] whereas the third was published on June 17, 2014.[3]

The story revolves around Shōko Nishimiya, a middle school student who has impaired hearing. She transfers into a new school, where she is bullied by her classmates. Shouya Ishida, one of the bullies, goes to the point that she transfers to another school. As a result, he is ostracized and bullied himself, with no friends to speak of and no plans for the future. Years later, he sets himself on a path to redemption.[4]
